The police in Agricola last week during their ‘rescue’ operation

24 Year old Sean Bobb was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon when he was attacked by two persons reported to be members of one of two gangs presently at war in Agricola, East Bank Demerara. 15 Year old bystander Daniel Webster who also lives in the village was shot by a stray bullet which intended for Bobb, Webster’s condition is said to be critical.

Police in statement identified both Webster and Bobb as being targets of shooters who were identified as ‘Plucking’ and ‘Big Life’

The Police stated that ‘Plucking’ and ‘Big Life’ who were armed with handguns discharged several rounds in the direction of Bobb who received injuries to his chin while Webster received injuries to his chest.

A thirty year old has been arrested in connection with the shooting based on information coming out of the police statement.

This latest shooting in Agricola is said to be as a direct result of an incident which took place last week were a young man, Oniel Jeffery was beaten and tied up after he reportedly committed an alleged robbery in the community of Agricola where he also lives and is part of of the gangs at war.

Police sources have since indicated that the incidents are all related and that Saturday’s shooting was a direct retaliation to the beating and tying up of Jeffery by the members of one gang. The names of the gangs are not yet known to the police.

BIG Smith Crime Watch learnt that the gang wars started in the community after a decree was passed that ‘no robberies must take place in the community’. That decree was reportedly passed by the leader of a gang who relative recently embarked on a business venture in the community and who are also said to be related to a now dead notorious character who was shot and killed by the police.

Jeffery who is said to be a member of another gang along with his members decided to defy the orders of the other gang and went and commit a robbery which saw him being beaten and tied up in the community resulting in the police moving in last week to rescue him. He is still in hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

Following that incident, the police received information that the gang from which Jeffery belongs was about to launch a retaliation and that there were weapons being stored at a particular location to execute the retaliation. The police then carried out an intelligence led operation in the community where they found the weapons.

Saturday’s shooting incident is now said to be a direct result of that operation which the police lead and which resulted in the seizure of the weapons.
