Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, alongside Madanlall Ramraj, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), held a meeting with senior management at GuySuCo’s Head Office at La Bonne Intention to address critical performance challenges and leadership issues.

The discussion centered on developing strategic plans and setting crop production targets for 2025, with a strong focus on revitalizing the sugar industry and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

This meeting follows a statement by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who warned of potential management changes if production targets are not achieved.

Minister Mustapha echoed the President’s stance, emphasizing that the government has provided substantial resources to support the industry’s recovery. While acknowledging the challenges faced by GuySuCo, he underscored that failure to meet specific targets would result in decisive managerial actions.
