As Guyana prepares to co-host the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket tournament, the Guyana Police Force is ramping up efforts to ensure public safety and security.

Earlier today, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean addressed the Impact Base ranks of Regional Division 4A at the Guyana Fire Service Headquarters in Georgetown, outlining the enhanced security measures.

Assistant Commissioner McBean, who serves as the Commander for Regional Division 4A, praised the frontline officers for their ongoing dedication to maintaining safety across the country.

He emphasized the importance of increasing police visibility and conducting patrols in key areas, including hotspots, markets, parks, and other public spaces, to deter criminal activity during the high-profile event.

In his address, McBean stressed the need for professionalism and proper conduct among officers, warning that indiscipline would not be tolerated. He also advised General Duty ranks to be prepared with a Force Permit, enabling them to operate police vehicles in case of emergency.

McBean highlighted the significance of effective communication and networking in enhancing risk assessment and overall policing efforts. He encouraged the ranks to voice their concerns, which were promptly addressed during the session.

To acknowledge the officers’ hard work and dedication throughout the year, McBean concluded by distributing school supplies to the ranks, underscoring the Guyana Police Force’s commitment to youth development.

The Impact Base of Regional Division 4A will be operating from the old fire station headquarters in Georgetown as they intensify their presence ahead of the CPL T20 tournament.
