First Lady Arya Ali delivered an impactful address  at the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) Dinner and Award ceremony recently, emphasizing the crucial role of tourism in the nation’s economy. In her speech, she highlighted the potential of emerging tourism sectors such as education, sports, and health tourism, describing them as exciting avenues for diversifying Guyana’s tourism industry.

“These branches of tourism are not merely forms of leisure,” First Lady Ali stated, “but strategic drivers of economic growth, cultural exchange, and, more broadly, national development.”

She stressed that by investing in these areas, Guyana can attract a more diverse range of visitors, enhance cultural understanding, and significantly contribute to the country’s overall development and economic resilience.

Her remarks underscored the importance of innovation in the tourism sector, encouraging stakeholders to explore these emerging markets to strengthen and expand Guyana’s tourism footprint.
