Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, conducted a follow-up visit to the site of the Stabroek Market Wharf collapse yesterday to assess progress in the clearing and rubble removal efforts.

During his visit, Minister Benn received a briefing on the ongoing operations.

He emphasized the importance of safety measures for all workers involved in the cleanup operations, stressing the necessity of proper attire, including safety wear, gloves, helmets, and appropriate footwear to ensure their well-being.

Minister Benn also underscored the significance of efficient management in transporting materials to designated areas for the safe removal of rubble.

He directed the ranks of the Guyana Police Force and the Mayor and City Council to take control of the site, ensuring the smooth and organized execution of cleanup operations.

A dedicated team from the Ministry of Home Affairs is providing essential support and assistance on site to complement the ongoing efforts.

The government acknowledges and appreciates the dedicated efforts of all personnel involved in the cleanup process and reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing safety and efficiency in the ongoing response to the Stabroek Market Wharf collapse.

Further updates on the cleanup progress will be provided as the operation continues.
