Unlicensed Motorcyclist Killed, Two Injured in Corentyne Crash

A 28-year-old man lost his life on Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a concrete bridge along the No. 69 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
The deceased has been identified as Eric Kissoon, of Lot 200, No. 72 Village, Corentyne.
Police reported that the accident occurred at around 15:55 hrs and involved motorcycle CN 7562, owned by Kishan Jagmohan of Lot G, No. 71 Village. At the time of the crash, Kissoon was carrying two passengers: Soohil Thakuradi, a 13-year-old student of Tagore Memorial Secondary School, and Goomraj Veerasammy, 28, of Lot 43, No. 70 Village. Both were seriously injured.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kissoon, who was unlicensed, was riding at a high speed along the eastern lane of the No. 68 Public Road. Police said neither the rider nor his passengers were wearing helmets. While negotiating a right bend, Kissoon reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, slamming into the rail of a concrete bridge.
Public-spirited citizens rushed to assist and transported the victims to the No. 75 Regional Hospital. Kissoon was pronounced dead while receiving treatment. His body is at the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The two injured passengers remain hospitalised in serious condition. Investigations are ongoing.
