Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha recently convened bilateral discussions with delegations from Jamaica and Venezuela, signaling a proactive approach towards regional agricultural cooperation.

Heading the Jamaican delegation was Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining, Floyd Green, while the Venezuelan delegation was led by Agriculture and Land Minister, Wilmar Castro Soteldo.

During these pivotal meetings, officials delved into various areas of mutual interest within the agricultural sector, exploring avenues for collaboration through knowledge exchange and technical assistance.

Joining Minister Mustapha were key figures including Madanlall Ramraj, Director General for the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Richard Blair, Ministerial Advisor on CARICOM and Food Security, Natasha Deonarine, Director of Planning, Jagnarine Singh, CEO of the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI), Dr. Dwight Waldron, CEO of the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA), alongside other technical experts from the ministry.

The discussions underscored Guyana’s commitment to fostering robust partnerships with neighboring nations to enhance agricultural practices, promote sustainability, and bolster food security across the region. These engagements serve as a testament to the government’s proactive stance in advancing regional cooperation for the collective benefit of all stakeholders involved.
