House bandit shot by police, accomplice escapes

The Police in Regional Division 4B are investigating a home invasion that eventually resulted in one of the invaders being shot by the police Friday morning.
Dion Thompson told police she woke up to strange sounds in her home just after 3:00hrs Friday and saw two unmasked men dressed in dark color clothing in her Lot 191 Samatta Point, Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara home.
The suspects have been identified as 22 Year Old Tyrone McRae and 19 Year Old Antwan Sampson, both of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara. Both young men were previously charged for larceny and are out of jail on bail.
According to Thompson, after she saw the men, she raised an alarm and they fled through a window.
She later discovered that her music set and a mobile phone were missing and the police were contacted.
Police sources told BIG Smith News Watch that as ranks were patrolling the area around 5:00hrs Friday, they observed two men fitting a description given by the home owner.
As the police approached the men who were carry four music boxes, one of them opened fire on the police, forcing the coos to take cover and return fire. In the process, McRae was shot to the upper shoulder while his accomplice Sampson escaped.

McRae was taken to the hospital while the music boxes and a cellphone which belong to the home owner were recovered.
