Policeman struck down while probing accident scene

Police Constable 24599 Kyvon James was rushed for medical attention after both of his legs were broken as he was struck down while investigating an accident at the junction of Brickdam and Avenue of the Republic.

The accident occurred just around 03:30hrs on Thursday morning. Also rushed for medical attention were Sabrina Bhajan and Harinarine Satnarine.

BIG Smith News Watch was told of the calamity of events that took place on Thursday morning resulting in a multi-vehicle accident which started by a Sabrina Bhajan who jumped a major road.

While driving motorcar PAF 4021 west along Brickdam at a fast rate of speed, Bhajan failed to stop or slow down at the intersection and ended up into the path of motor lorry GLL 3695 which was heading south along Avenue of the Republic.

Her car was hit by the lorry causing her to receive injuries and had to be rushed immediately to the hospital. The impact caused the lorry driver, Chandica Balram to lose control of the vehicl, which ended up into the fence of the Public Buildings, bringing down a section of the fence in the process.

As the police constable was probing the accident scene and placing the damaged car of Sabrina onto a tow truck GAF 1396, motorcar PAB 3071 which was proceeding west along Brickdam at a fast rate of speed, collided with the police man and the driver of the tow truck, flinging them several meters away from the point of impact.

The police investigations are ongoing.
