The police in ‘C’ Division last evening launched a hunt for two male Negro suspects who robbed two University of Guyana Students, shooting one of them in the process as they were heading from class around 20:00.hrs on Tuesday evening.

The victims who are both from Linden were identified as 20 year old Anthony Benjamin of Central Amelia’s Ward and Carlos Rose 19 years old of 146 Block 22 Wismar Linden.

BIG Smith Crime Watch was informed that Benjamin has his Samsung J5 mobile phone taken away from him while Rose has his one honor mobile also taken away from him.

We were told that the men rode up to the two students and demanded that they hand over their items and they complied without any resistance and even after being given the items by the young men, as the bandits rode off, one whipped out a firearm and discharged a round in the direction of the two, striking Rose in the right thigh.

The young man fell to the ground and was immediately picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted in the male surgical ward.

Over the last few months, dozens of CCTV footage have been surfacing which shows that the city and its outskirts seems to be infested and plagued by bandits who are using bicycles. In last night’s case, they bandits were using BMX bikes.

This trend seems to have replaced the previous means of moving to and from a robbery scene with motorcycles which previously obtained, something the police managed to clamp down on to some extent by conducting raids and seizures.
