Cop critical in police pickup/ lorry crash

A Police Detective Constable is in a serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was rushed following an accident on the Corentyne Public Road, East Berbice on Saturday morning. The injured cop has been identified as Detective Constable Huston.

Based on information reaching BIG Smith News Watch, at about 03:30hrs, the cop was driving Police Pickup PAE 1659 along the No. 75 Corentyne Public Road when it collided with motor lorry GLL 2841. Both vehicles were said to be traveling in the opposite direction, according to police sources.

At the time of the accident, there were other police officers in the police pickup, they, like Constable Hutson, were taken for medical attention in Berbice but while were treated and sent away, while Hutson was transferred to the GPHC for advance medical attention.

Over the last five months, accident involving motor lorry have been on the increase. A few months ago, a police commander was also injured in an accident with a motor lorry as it crashed into his force issued vehicle, injuring him and his driver in the process.
