A 35-year-old Venezuelan national has confessed to murdering 28-year-old Estephanie Garcia, who was stabbed to death in her Kaikan, Region Seven, home on Friday, September 22.

The house where Estephanie was murdered.

The suspect was detained on Saturday, September 23. Estephanie Garcia’s husband had travelled to Venezuela on

Thursday, September 21, where he works.

The miner, who also resides at Kaikan, reportedly went to Garcia’s home the following day. He claimed that he and the woman had an argument and that he killed her when she tried to flee.

A postmortem revealed that Estephanie Garcia sustained multiple stab wounds.

Garcia’s body was found on the floor of her one-bedroom house. Her t-shirt was pulled above her breasts and her underwear had been pulled down.

There were visible puncture wounds on her neck.

The victim had lived with her reputed husband, Elvis Trotman and her three children..At about 07:30 a.m. on Friday September 22, the children left for Kaikan Primary School, leaving Estephanie Garcia at home alone.

On their return at about 4:30 p.m. the children found their mother lying motionless on the  floor with what appeared to be blood around her neck.

Neighbours contacted the police and the body was taken to the Kaikan Health Centre.
