Venezuelan man charged with murder of woman at Kaikan

Venezuelan national Jaior Medina Hernandes has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Estephanie Garcia, who was stabbed to death in her Kaikan, Region Seven, home on Friday, September 22.
The 35-year-old Hernandes was remanded on Friday, September 29, following an appearance in the Bartica Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Delon Bess. He is scheduled to return to court on December 19, 2023.
Hernandes is alleged to have slain Garcia, a Venezuelan during a quarrel, He was detained on Saturday, September 23.
A postmortem revealed that Estephanie Garcia sustained multiple stab wounds.
Garcia’s body was found on the floor of her one-bedroom house. Her t-shirt was pulled above her breasts and her underwear had been pulled down. There were visible puncture wounds on her neck.
The victim had lived with her reputed husband, ElvisTrotman and her three children.
At about 07:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, the children left for Kaikan Primary School, leaving Estephanie Garcia at home alone.
On their return at about 4:30 p.m. the children found their mother lying motionless on the floor with what appeared to be blood around her neck.
Neighbours contacted the police and the body was taken to the Kaikan Health Centre.
