Father and children ages four and six perish in early morning fire.

An early morning fire has left a family in grievance as a man and his two children perished in a fire at their home on Drysdale Street Charlestown.

 

The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Michael Richards, his son 4-year-old Supreme Richards, and his daughter 6-year-old Somaya Richards.

Dead: Supreme Richards age 4

Residents woke up to the sound of sparks and thick smoke filling the air as firefighters battled the fierce flames that rapidly consumed the building.

Dead: Somaya Richards age 6

Despite the valiant efforts of the emergency responders, they were unable to rescue the trapped family in time.

 

The lower flat was occupied by the Richard’s family of six, the two older siblings managed to escape the burning building safely, while their mother was at work when the fire started.

 

Occupants of the upper flat of the house claimed that the fire started from the lower half of the building.

 

Investigations are ongoing as Fire officials are working diligently to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

 

The loss of Father Michael Richards, Supreme Richards, and Somaya Richards has left an indelible mark on the community of Charlestown.
