Muammar Jabbar of Albouystown, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to a charge for the capital offence of murder in a Demerara High Court courtroom on Tuesday.

Jabbar is accused of the August 20, 2013 murder of Tolasicy Marshall, called “Talo”, who was stabbed to death at James Street, Albouystown.

Jabbar’s trial will commence on Monday, June 26 before a mixed 12-member jury at High Court Judge Sandil Kissoon.

The murder accused is being represented by defence lawyer, George Thomas.

Marshall, of Hogg Street, Albouystown, sustained two stab wounds in an attack and died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) about half an hour later.

Based on reports, Marshall had paid a man to make jewellery for him but the man did not deliver the goods.

Some time after, the now dead man received a gold chain but claimed that the jeweller still owed him.

On the day in question, Marshall was walking in the community when a man came out of a yard and allegedly stabbed him.

Persons in the community recalled seeing blood gushing from Marshall’s chest while he ran down the road before collapsing in front of a tree.

Jabbar was only arrested for the man’s murder in June 2019.
