Lallbacchan Bacchant a father of four was this morning found dead in the lockups at Suddie Police Station, Essequibo, Region 2.

The police in a statement related that the 40 year old taxi driver had two arrest warrants which were issued for him for driving under the influence of alcohol. BIG Smith Crime Watch was informed that the man was charged with the offences but did not show up for his court dates and the court issued a warrant for his arrest.

He was picked up on Friday Saturday by the police and kept in custody with the expectation that he would be taken before the court on Tuesday.

His address was as 21 Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast. The police noted that the discovery was made at approximately 06:10hrs today.

The deceased was said to be the lone prisoner in the lockups at the time, according to a police report. The police generally don’t keep persons in custody for traffic offences unless those offences causing death by dangerous driving. However once an arrest warrant is issued for someone be it a minor offence, the person is to be arrested and kept in custody for the next available court date.
