Stafrei Alexander and Owen Belfield– who were found guilty of the murder of Linden resident, Richard Remington– have been sentenced to life and 14 years imprisonment respectively.

Alexander, also known as “Ratty” and “Mad Dog”, and Belfield murdered Remington between February 9 and 12, 2015 at Wismar, Linden.

The sentences were imposed on Tuesday by Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds, six months after a jury convicted the men of the crime.

Reports state that the decomposed remains of Remington were found in a clump of bushes along a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in Christianburg/ Cholmondeley Hill, Linden.

Remington was shot twice to his right-side temple. A forensic pathologist gave the man’s cause of death as gunshot injuries to the head.

Meanwhile, in July 2018, Alexander was handed a life sentence after a jury found him guilty of attempting to murder Curtis Thom, whom he had shot back in 2015.

He was also convicted of escaping from lawful custody and jailed for two years. Alexander is currently awaiting trial for the April 2015 murder of Linden businesswoman, Shevon  Gordon.
