32-Y-O Driver killed after motorcar slams into lorry

A 32-year-old man was on Saturday morning killed in an accident on the Rupert Craig Highway after the motor car he was driving slammed into a motor lorry at around 03:10h.
According to information received, Stephon Stewart of Charlestown, Georgetown was driving Motor Car #PRR 7135 when the accident occurred. The Motor lorry which he collided with was at the time pulling a motor car from a trench on the southern side of the Highway between Bel-Air Access Road and Conversation Tree Road.
The driver of the motor lorry was Richard Macdonald, a 30-year-old Corporal in the Guyana Defence Force. He told police officers that he was retrieving Motor Car # PKK 9331 driven by 31-year-old Adrian Montrose, also a Corporal in the GDF, when he heard a loud crashing sound. Upon checking, he observed the front portion of Stewart’s car smashed into the rear portion of the Lorry. As a result of the collision, Stewart sustained injuries and was seen motionless while both vehicles were extensively damaged.
The Ambulance services were summoned to the Accident Scene where Stewart was pronounced dead.
Police have taken the GDF Corporals into custody as the investigation continues. Police said checks were made for CCTV Camera Footage but none was observed in the area.
