Man reportedly drowns after trying to cross river

A 27-year-old Porkknocker reportedly drowned on Sunday, June 12, 2022 in Region Nine after he reportedly attempted to swim across a river with a friend.

The family of the man identified as Samuel Oliver Henry is now seeking closure since his body has not been recovered.

The man’s wife, Junita Henry, told Big Smith News Watch that she last saw her husband in January when she visited him. On June 12, she received a call to say that he drowned while attempting to cross a river with a barrel tied to his waist.

However, the family was told that the water is high, and it is impossible to retrieve the body given the river current at the location.

Samuel resided at B 52 Lamaha Springs, Georgetown and has six siblings. The family is planning a night of reflection on Friday in his honour.
