Court issues arrest warrant for Opposition Leader

February 16 2026
An arrest warrant was on Monday issued for Azruddin Mohamed after he failed to appear for the commencement of his extradition hearing.
The warrant was granted by Magistrate Judy Latchman when the matter was called and Mohamed was absent from the courtroom. The magistrate also voiced concern over what she described as his repeated lateness to previous court appearances.
“As it related to Azruddin Mohamed, he is very disrespectful and an arrest warrant was issued for him. He has to be punctual — everyone else is punctual,” Magistrate Latchman stated during the proceedings.
Mohamed and his father, Nazar Mohamed, are currently before the court in relation to extradition proceedings stemming from financial crime charges filed against them in the United States. Both men were previously granted bail in the sum of $150,000 each, pending the outcome of the matter.
The case was adjourned to February 18 to facilitate the submission of an updated medical report regarding Nazar Mohamed.
