A 42-year-old driver of Nooten Zuil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Friday morning killed in an accident at Bee Hive, ECD.

Police said Romeo Machado was driving minibus BYY 4603 at a fast rate when he drove into a pothole, and lost control of the minibus.

As a result, the bus crashed into a wooden post erected on the southern side of the road and it ended up in a nearby trench.

The incident occurred just after midnight.

The driver received several injuries about his body as a result of the impact. He was taken out of the minibus by public-spirited persons in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is presently at the Memorial Garden’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.
