Boat Captain’s body found in fuel tank onboard vessel

The Police in Essequibo are investigating the circumstances leading the discovery of the body of a boat captain being found in a fuel tank on the boat he controls.

Dead is Fabian Hopkinson. The discovery was made at the David … Wharf at Adventure, Essequibo, Region 2.

BIG Smith News Watch was informed that the deceased and two sailors left Bartica and Adventure on Sunday to ferry fuel from Adventure to Bartica.

However, when the boat arrived at Adventure, the tide was too low so the three decided that they were going to sleep and when the tide got higher, they would have commenced loading the fuel.

On Monday morning, when the owner of the bond which is located at David Shurland Wharf arrived to check on the men, he called out to them buy only the two sailors responded.

It was then that that they observed that Hopkinson was not responding, a search was done, and his body was found in the gas tank onboard the vessel.

The body was retrieved and the police sources in the region have since indicated there was no marks of violence was visible on the remains.

The sailors have however since been assisting the police with their investigations.
