Family and friends of the now dead, 24-year-old Security Officer Ronaldo Sauldrepaul on Wednesday evening held a candlelight vigil at the Plaisance public road, East Coast Demerara (ECD). Saulderpaul died days after an accident on the Plaisance public road.

Family members said they are “still deeply overcome by grief at his tragic and untimely demise.”

Sauldrepaul succumbed last Tuesday evening at a city hospital while receiving treatment for injuries he sustained in a serious accident that occurred on April 23.

Reports are that Sauldrepaul was proceeding west along the southern driving lane of the Plaisance Public Road on a motorcycle when motorcar PPP 6446 drove north from out of Prince William Street and into the pathway of the motorcyclist. The resulting collision caused the motorcyclist to receive injuries to his body.

He was assisted by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit, and was subsequently transported to the Woodlands Hospital to seek medical attention where he later succumbed.

The driver was placed on $300,000 station bail.
