On March 01, 2019 Big Smith Crime Watch broke the story that Mohamed Arshad Ally was murdered at Bennet Dam, Rosignol, West Cost Berbice while on his way to the New Amsterdam Hospital to see his wife and new born baby, a journey he unfortunately was unable to complete.

21 Year old Bibi Ackleema Ally in an interview with BIG Smith Crime Watch spoke of how she has been coping as both, a woman who was suddenly plunged from being a happily married woman to a sorrowing widow; now raising a brand new baby girl on her own.

On the day in question, the young mother gave birth and the family was excited, her husband did some chores at home before leaving for his journey to the hospital when he was attacked in the village by a man whom he and other relatives had made several reports against, ranging from abusive language to threatening behavior. The man lived right next door to the family.

Mrs. Ally told BIG Smith Crime Watch that raising her daughter without a father is hard as it is not something she envisioned or foresee, at least days after giving birth.

Dead: Mohamed Arshad Ally

According to her, prior to the baby’s birth, an ultrasound was done and when it was discovered that the couple were about to have a baby girl, the two began playing around with name suggestions.

In the end, the name which was most liked by her now dead husband was given to the child. She is called; Zainab Mohamed Ally, (Zainab in Islam means ‘beauty’)

Bibi Ally was asked about the last words her husband said to her, fighting to hold back tears, she spoke of him wishing her a safe delivery and then bidding her farewell in the Arabic language “As-Salaam-Alaikum”.

Given her condition  and state after delivery; when her husband did not show up to greet and welcome his first child into the world, Bibi began asking questions.

Her father took the lead role and in her best interest and that of the baby, deceived her. He first told her that her husband “could not make”.

When that excuse expired, he told his daughter the closest story to the reality; that “Arshad got into an accident and he died”.

It was only after she got out of the hospital and was able to settle in at home, that the father three weeks after, told her the truth about the matter and what became of her husband.

Asked how she managed to deal with news, Bibi said that it was hard but she understood the circumstances and the reason relatives though it best not to inform her of the true circumstances at the time and why she was not seeing her husband by her bedside and why they kept her in the dark for a few more days after she returned home.

Mrs. Bibi Ackleema Ally said what was painful is that the same spot her husband was killed, is the very spot the said suspect attacked him a while back as he was on his way to work.

She said that the family needs justice, and so does her baby.

The suspect in the matter was arrested after his crime and is presently before the courts.
