Coalitoan Member of Parliament Annette Ferguson has been arrested for a post she made on social media, the police said on Wednesday.

The report was made by a senior member of the Guyana Defence Force.

“The reporter is a senior member of the (GDF) who made the allegation against Ms. Ferguson in relation to a Facebook social media post which falsely alleged that the said senior GDF rank will be in charge of a killing squad,” the short police statement read.

The matter has been referred to as a alleged cyber crime.

“Investigators are ongoing and upon completion the file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advise,” the statement concluded.
