Before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Demerara, 36-year-old Abishai Caesar is currently on trial for the September 2021, murders of businesswoman Jennifer Persaud and her two sons, Afridi Bacchus, 6, and 17-month-old Jadon Ernest.

The murder accused has since pleaded not guilty to the charges which alleged that he murdered the trio between September 21 and 22, 2012 at Sea View Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.

According to reports, Caesar allegedly broke into the 41-year-old businesswoman’s home and robbed and killed her and her two sons. The murder accused was only arrested in April 2016, after his former reputed wife informed the Police that he had confided in her about killing the family.

Caesar was first tried for the murders in 2019. That trial however ended in a hung jury. As such, the trial judge then ordered that he face a new trial at the next practicable sitting of the Demerara Criminal Assizes.
