Dead: Patrick Wilson

By Royan Abrams

Patrick Wilson a 21 year old resident of Lot 5 Limlair Village, Corentyne Berbice died on shortly after receiving a single stab wound to the region of his chest by a man who he had earlier assaulted with a piece of wood at a rum shop on the Corentyne Coast.

The shop where the assault began

Wilson was at the time reportedly defending one of two cousins who had got into an argument with the suspect at the said location on Sunday evening at approximately 23:30 hrs.

BIG Smith Crime Watch learnt that Wilson and his cousins were at the shop in the area when the suspect walked in and began accusing of Wilson’s cousin of “talking his name”

An argument ensued and Wilson who had left home since Sunday morning to go imbibe with his friends, picked up a piece of wood and began assaulting suspect before leaving the drinking joint.

Moments later the suspect returned and encountered Wilson on the street and whipped out a knife and dealt him one stab wound to the region of the chest. Wilson attempted to run but collapsed a short distance away and died.

Camela Surujmohan the mother of the deceased Wilson explained that she received the news about her son’s demise after 23:00 hrs.

According to her, Wilson left home around 11:00 hrs earlier the day and went to imbibe with his friends.

“Last night I get a call from another son saying how Patrick get bore and leh me take a taxi and go for him, so I said you joking and he said no I serious and by the time I rush out there, he almost died so me we went to the station and make a report” the woman explained.

The dead man’s mother

Surujmohan related that based on what she was able to gather, an argument took place at the shop between the suspect and one of her nephews and that it was the nephew that the suspect initially wanted to stab, not her son.

Meanwhile the accused was arrested and taken into custody assisting with investigations.
