19-Y-O stabbed dead in fight with 17-Y-O

The location where the incident took place

A nineteen-year-old Dazzle Housing Scheme East Coast Demerara resident is now dead while a seventeen-year-old has been placed into police custody as he assists them in an alleged murder investigation.

Speaking with Big Smith News Watch this evening in the community, one resident indicated that she was at home when the suspect in the incident came running to her in visible pain and covered in mud.

She related that the young man explained to her that he had a previous altercation on Monday evening with another villager who this evening in the company of his brother attacked him after an argument.

We were told that at first, the victim approached the suspect and began threatening him while they were at a shop and after an exchange of words, the victim ran home and armed himself with a cutlass and iron object.

He and his brother reportedly returned and attacked the suspect who reportedly retaliated by stabbing the main aggressor to the chest before fleeing.

In conversations with persons in the community, we were told that the two brothers would often get into conflicts with the other residents in the community, and as such; many persons try their utmost in staying far from them.

When we showed up at the home of the victim to speak with relatives there, no one was at home. Police sourced indicated that although the stabbing took place in the community, the victim was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
