Six Venezuelans attempt to murder Guyanese policeman

A Police Constable who is also a National Athlete and working in the Criminal Investigative arm of the Guyana Police Force is battling for his life affer being stabbed with knives and broken bottles in the vicinity of Demico House in downtown Stabroek Saturday night.

Injured and hospitalised with stab wounds about his body including to the back of his head, is Police Constable Nathaniel Gittens. Gittens who hails from Linden is known for doing his impressive track and field events barefooted and achieving record timings.

Four of the Venezuelan Nationals are in the police lockups while two are in hospital nursing stab wounds inflicted on them by their own nationals as they were all attacking the policeman together.

BIG Smith News Watch was told that the policeman who was in plain clothes saw a Venezuelan woman attacking a Guyanese woman and went over to deescalate the situation.

As he was in the process of deescalating the situation, a male Venezuelan walked up to him and after he identified himself as a policeman, the male backed off. However another male came up from behind and stabbed the policeman to the back of his head with a broken bottle. At this point, all the other Venezuelans who were imbibing together joined in and attacked the policeman.

Police sources said Venezuelan Nationals include two women and four men.
