Just after 05:00hrs Monday morning, motor vehicles PAD 2018 and BHH 8451 collided in the vicinity of the East Ruimveldt Police Station, at Ruimveldt, Georgetown rustling in at least one fatality.

Dead is 51-year-old Sara Wilson of Lot 269 Samantha Point Grove East Bank Demerara, who was seated in the front passenger seat of Minibus BHH 4851.

Police sources have indicated that the driver of the motor car PAD 2018 was proceeding south on the Ruimveldt Public Road at a fast rate of speed while in the vicinity of Top Point Store, the driver of the motor car was negotiating the slight bend when the left side front of the motor car came into contact with a pile of sand on the side of the road.

This caused car to collide with a bridge, resulting in the car turning turtle a few times and skid in a south western direction.

The car ended up onto the Western carriageway and came to a stop after the said motor car came into contact with the front center portion of Mini Bus BHH 8451 which was proceeding north along the eastern drive lane of the Western carriageway on Ruimveldt Public Road.

The driver of the car, the driver of the minibus and its occupants all received injuries about their bodies.

The driver of the motor car PAD 2018 along with an occupant of the Mini Bus, Sara Wilson was picked up by the Emergency Medical Technicians in an unconscious condition, placed into an Ambulance and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The driver of the minibus along with the other occupants were also transported to the said hospital.

On arrival, Sara Wilson was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.  The driver of the motor car was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit suffering from head injuries. His condition is regarded as critical.

The other occupants of the minibus are currently receiving treatment for abrasions about the body.
