Wife, hitman pleads guilty to killing Herstelling block maker

Beverly Persaud, 52, and 27-year-old Oswald Yaw on Tuesday pleaded guilty to murdering her husband, Nathan Persaud, a block maker of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.

The duo appeared before Justice Navindra Singh virtually at the High Court in Demerara. Beverly Persaud and Yaw will return to court on February 16, 2021, for sentencing.

The charge against them stated that on September 10, 2015, at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, they murdered Nathan Persaud pursuant to a financial arrangement by Beverly.

Media reports are that Nathan Persaud, was found dead in his home. He had several stab wounds about his body. A brick and a hammer were found next to him. Based on reports, the man and his wife were involved in a bitter property dispute. It was reported that this wife paid Yaw to kill him.

Beverly Persaud and Oswald Yaw were represented by Attorneys-at-Law Ravindra Mohabir and Rachael Bakker respectively. Prosecutors Teriq Mohammed and Tiffini Lyken appeared for the Prosecution.
