INJURED: One of the suspects who was shot on Tuesday afternoon

Two men were this afternoon shot by a licensed firearm holder, one was killed on the spot and the other injured and escorted for medical attention.

The incident took place in William Street Campbellville, Georgetown shortly after the men reportedly robbed a woman of her handbag two streets away and were attempting to escape through a resident’s yard.

It is unclear if the bandits had in their possession any weapon at the time but the police quickly brought out their sniffer dog to assist in the search for any possible firearm the bandits suspects may have have had.

When BIG Smith News Watch arrived on the scene, the police were already on the ground combing the scene even as the injured bandit lay on the ground rolling in pain crying out for the police to take him for medical attention. the police however took a conscious decision to await the arrival of the paramedics, a move that that onlooker agreed with.

Shortly after that, the paramedics arrived and first attended to the injured suspect before moving to the other one who they immediately pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Police ‘A’ Division and Criminal Investigation Department’s Major Crimes Unit joined forces as they launched their investigation supported by general duty ranks who arrived in their number to effect crowd control.
