Rupununi farmer who killed Brazilian national jailed for 12 yrs

The 40-year-old Rupununi farmer, who pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge last month in the Boxing Day 2018 killing of a Brazilian man, has been jailed for 12 years.
Darrell Williams called “Fox”, who was initially indicted for the capital offence of murder had opted to plead guilty to the lesser count, when he appeared before Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds.
On December 26, 2018, at Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi, he unlawfully killed 44-year-old Elvis Aulicio, a farmer of Bon Fim, Brazil.
Williams was sentenced on Tuesday.
According to reports, Williams and the now dead man were known to each other.
On the day in question, they were both at a birthday party when Williams accused Aulicio of stealing his haversack that had ‘labba’ meat in it.
As such, Williams became annoyed and followed Aulicio into the Moco Moco savannah where he dealt him a stab to his neck before escaping.
Aulicio, who was found on a track in the open savannah with wounds to his back and forehead, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
