Police Meet Vreed-en-Hoop Business Owners on Safety, Elections

On Friday, August 8, 2025, the Guyana Police Force conducted a Business Community Outreach in the Vreed-en-Hoop Region Three area, engaging several local business owners to discuss security, safety, and election-related matters.

The initiative was led by Superintendent Jagnanan, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic for Regional Division #3, along with Sergeant Beresford, Officer-in-Charge of the Vreed-en-Hoop Traffic Department, Sergeant Birch, Woman Corporal Britton-Hubbard, and other ranks.

Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including preparations for the upcoming General and Regional Elections, types of election offences, enhanced security measures for businesses, the installation of security cameras, provision of safe parking for customers, proper garbage disposal, and maintaining cleanliness in business surroundings.

Other issues addressed included driving under the influence, the sale of alcoholic beverages on Election Day, investment in private security, installation of business shutters, encumbrance of roadways, circulation of counterfeit currency, overloading in public transport, noise nuisances, the need for increased police presence, use of the 911 emergency system, and reporting suspicious activities.

Business owners expressed gratitude to the police for taking the time to educate them on election offences and for addressing their concerns, noting that the engagement strengthened community relations and promoted a safer business environment.
