-Suspect in Custody

Police are investigating the alleged murder of Avienash Singh, a 30-year-old fisherman from Charity Squatting Area, which occurred on Sunday evening at a local shop operated by the suspect’s former partner.

The suspect, a 29-year-old fisherman also from Charity Squatting Area, has been detained and is currently assisting police with the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect accused Singh of having an affair with his former partner, a 25-year-old shopkeeper and the mother of his children.

On the evening of June 16, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, Singh was drinking with friends at a table in the shop while the suspect was at another table.

Singh was seen collecting his ID and bank cards from the shopkeeper before exiting the shop. The suspect followed Singh outside.

About ten feet from the shop, the suspect confronted Singh, slapping him several times before drawing a knife and stabbing Singh three times in the chest. Singh collapsed, and the suspect fled on foot.

Singh was found unconscious and was rushed to Charity Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries despite receiving medical attention.

The suspect was later apprehended and is now in police custody as investigations continue.
