OPR Probing Shooting of Magistrate’s Son

The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of September 14, 2024, on Robb Street, Georgetown.
The incident, which took place near a popular nightclub, left 27-year-old businessman Cassel Nurse with a gunshot wound.
At approximately 01:50 a.m., a police Anti-Crime Patrol, led by a Gazetted Officer, was conducting patrol duties when they received reports of two men on motorcycles behaving suspiciously around the Bourda Market area.
The officers responded immediately and pursued the men down Robb Street when they attempted to flee.
During the chase, one of the suspects reportedly drew a firearm and fired multiple shots at the police officers. In response, one of the officers discharged his service weapon, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
Amid the chaos, Nurse, who was standing next to his parked car outside the nightclub, was struck in the right foot by a bullet.
Nurse, the son of Magistrate Clive Nurse, was promptly transported to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he received medical treatment. His condition has been listed as stable, and the injury is not considered life-threatening.
Police sources revealed that a bullet was found lodged in Nurse’s foot. Meanwhile, the suspects managed to evade capture during the pursuit, which spanned several streets in Georgetown.
CCTV footage from the Command Center reportedly captured the suspects’ movements, alerting police patrols to the unfolding situation.
The OPR has since opened an investigation into the incident, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two motorcycle suspects.
