The region one community of Kwebana continues to be monitored as some 52 persons who were tested positive for the novel coronavirus are being isolated at home and at the medical facility.

Minster of Health Dr Frank Anthony is optimistic that the number would drop in the coming weeks as a Minister of Health team is currently embedded in the area.

The Region One community recently saw a sharp rise in the number of COVID 19 cases.

The Minister during his daily COVID 19 Update explained that that health care workers discharged 10 persons recently which led to a reduction in the number.

The health officials continue to do contact tracing in nearby communities and it was due to that tracing, that 17 new cases were detected.

Those persons have since been isolated the Minister Anthony said.

Region one continues to be of concern to the health authorities with more than 750 cases.

Even as the country recorded another death, this time a 54-year-old male of Region 4, the ministry is working on broadening its testing.

On Thursday it announced another mobile testing facility.

This time at Grove Health Centre on the East Bank of Demerara. That testing site would be opened over the weekend.
