A man who was jailed in 2019 for wounding his daughters, was on Friday remanded to prison on an attempted murder charge over discharging a gun at a woman. 56-year-old Peter Thompson of 78 Norton Street Lodge, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Thompson was not required to plea to the indictable charge which stated that on July 29, 2021, at Durban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, he discharged a firearm at Cherri-Ann Wills, with the intent to murder her. He was remanded to prison until August 16.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that Thompson and the victim are known to each other. Thompson and his daughter Andrea Howard, who is a friend of Wills are presently before the High Court

in respect of the division of property at Lot 78 Durban Street Lodge. Howard occupies the property.

Thompson is restrained from entering the said property. On the day in question, at about 18:30 hrs, Wills and Howard were in the company of two others sitting on an old car in front of the property when Thompson discharged several rounds in their direction.

One of the bullets struck Wills to her right side back. The injured woman is still hospitalised as the bullet is still lodged inside of her. The matter was then reported and Thompson was later arrested and charged.

In 2019, Senior Magistrate Dylon Bess sentenced Thompson to 13 months imprisonment after being found guilty of wounding his daughters.

The first charge stated that on April 30, 2018, at D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Ducilla Thompson, his 21-year-old daughter.

It was further alleged that on the same day, and at the same location, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Andrea Howard, his 32-year-old daughter.

It was reported that on the day in question, Thompson was awakened by a noise in the living room and upon checking saw her father and mother in a scuffle. It was then that the woman intervened and her father pulled out a knife from his waist and stabbed her several times to her abdomen.

The older sister upon seeing what was transpiring tried to intervene and her father picked up a bucket and pelt it to her face causing her injuries.
