(Dead: Paul Anthony Chase)

A 27-year-old man who is accused of fatally stabbing his younger brother was on Tuesday charged with murder. Quincy Chase, a security guard, of 34 Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on June 25, 2021, at Cummings Street, Bourda, he murdered his brother, 24-year-old Paul Anthony Chase.

He was remanded to prison until July 22 when he will make another appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, both siblings visited their mother to have breakfast.  At around 7:15 hrs, the mother questioned Quincy about a burnt spot on a mattress. This annoyed him and he began shouting at his mother in the living room.

He then dealt his mother a cuff to her left eye causing her to receive an injury. Upon seeing this, Paul began arguing with his brother. Quincy pulled out a knife and then dealt his brother two stabs– one to his chest and the other to his neck

The police were summoned. Paul was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
