After successfully registering her legal practice in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T), Guyanese Attorney-at-Law, Esther Osborne has returned home to practice law.

Her petition to practise law before the courts of Guyana was presented on Thursday 16th December, 2021, before Honourable Madam Chief Justice Roxane George, SC by Eusi Anderson Esq.  at the Victoria Law Courts in Georgetown. Anderson described Osborne as an exceptional young woman who has excelled both academically and in extra-curricular activities. He also mentioned that she has been involved in volunteerism.

For her part, Justice George accepted Osborne’s petition and gave her a warm welcome to the local Bar. The Chief Justice shared that she was impressed with Osborne’s curriculum vitae and said that she has no doubt that the young lawyer will excel in her career.

Meanwhile, Osborne in brief remarks pledged to uphold the ethics of the noble profession. She vowed to represent her clients to the best of her ability and to respect her colleagues and the court. Most importantly, she pledged to uphold the Rules of Law.

Osborne, who graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School (HWLS) in 2020, is a former student of St Joseph High School. She subsequently read for a Bachelor of Social Science in Communication Studies at the University of Guyana. Upon completion in 2015, she immediately commenced a Bachelor of Laws, as her passion for the law was awakened during the pursuit of her first degree.

In 2018, Osborne graduated with a law degree from the University of Guyana and was enrolled at HWLS to attain a Legal Education Certificate (LEC), which is a prerequisite to practise law in the Commonwealth Caribbean. She graduated from law school in 2020 and was shortly after admitted to the Bar in Trinidad and Tobago.

Thereafter, she interned at two law firms simultaneously and was subsequently employed at C. Griffith & Co. Attorneys at Law, in Trinidad, as a Legal Associate. Prior to this, she completed training sessions at Fitzwilliam Stone Furness-Smith & Morgan Attorneys-at-Law, in Corporate Law. Osborne also completed legal training at the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana, under the tutelage of the General Counsel.

During her time at HWLS, Osborne was a Student Mentor for the school’s mentorship programme. She was also the Vice Chairwoman and a Mentor at LBN Ambassadors Youth Group, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Osborne is currently enrolled at the University of East London where she is pursuing a Master of Laws. As it is, she still manages her legal practice in Trinidad and Tobago.
