May 29 2025- The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has launched an intensive search operation to locate Lance Corporal Stefon Tudor, who went missing during a river patrol in the Cuyuni River, Region Seven, on Tuesday afternoon.

Tudor was part of a Riverain Patrol near the Makapa rapids, located along the Guyana-Venezuela border. He reportedly fell into the river between 14:00 and 15:00 hours while on duty with troops stationed at Eteringbang and Makapa.

The GDF has committed all necessary resources to the ongoing search and rescue operation and has notified the family of the missing soldier. Military officials have also confirmed that a Board of Inquiry has been convened to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Defence Force in a press statement, reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of its personnel as efforts continue to locate Lance Corporal Tudor.
