The trial of James Bovell, the Director of a city private school, who was charged with sexual assault after he allegedly kissed and grabbed the buttocks of one of his female employees, commenced Tuesday before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

James Bovell was initially charged with the offence last year. Then, he pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that during  February 2020, at the school located in Georgetown, he sexually assaulted the 26-year-old woman.

According to information, during the period mentioned, the young woman borrowed money from Bovell to pay her rent. Sometime after, Bovell met the young woman while she was in the kitchen making tea for him and kissed her on her cheeks, and grabbed her butt.

The womaJn then told her colleagues what transpired and reported the matter to the police. Following an investigation, Bovell was arrested and placed before the courts. Bovell is currently out on bail pending the hearing and determination of the matter.

He will make his next court appearance on April 20, 2021.
