‘Cordon and Search’ Operation in Ruimveldt, Yields Over 3kg of Suspected Cannabis

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, police officers in Regional Division #4 executed a ‘Cordon and Search’ operation at Lot 4 Public Road, Ruimveldt. Upon arrival, they encountered a 24-year-old female resident.
The officers identified themselves and informed the woman that they had received information suggesting that narcotics were being stored on the premises. They then requested permission to search the property.
During the search, the police inspected a padlocked bedroom on the upper floor. Upon gaining access, they discovered eleven transparent ziplock bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The 24-year-old woman was informed of the offense, cautioned, arrested, and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station along with the suspected narcotics.
In the presence of the suspect, the suspected cannabis was photographed and weighed, amounting to 3015 grams. The narcotics were then placed in an evidence bag, marked, sealed, and lodged.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
