A 36-year-old businessman of Lot 46 Ujamma Housing Scheme, La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara (ECD) has been remanded to prison for the murder of his common-law wife.

Quincy Roache appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool on Tuesday at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

It is alleged that on August 27, at the aforementioned address, he murdered Tasina Dazzle, a 28-year-old housewife and mother of a six-year-old boy.

He was remanded to prison until October 14.

Police Headquarters reported that Roache and his partner would often have domestic issues but no report was made to the Police regarding this by the woman.

On the date and time mentioned, the woman’s cousin, a 33-year-old secretary who was also her neighbour, was awoken by her relative screaming.

As such, she immediately opened her door and upon doing so, saw Dazzle running out of her yard and onto her bridge where she fell and lay motionless.

Roache then exited the house and joined a minibus and made good his escape heading in the northern direction. The injured woman’s body was examined and stab wounds were seen.

Police said that Dazzle sustained 13 stab wounds. Shortly after escaping the scene, Roache turned himself over to Police at the Turkeyen Police Station.

Roache and Dazzle had been in a relationship for the past two years.
