Brooklyn resident remanded on drug trafficking charge

January 30 2026
Bradley Hibbert appeared before Magistrate Tomika Clarke at the Friendship Magistrate’s Court on Friday, January 30, 2026, where he was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The charge stems from the seizure of 15.798 kilograms of cannabis, which Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers intercepted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
According to CANU, ranks acted on intelligence and conducted a search on an incoming passenger arriving from the United States of America, during which several transparent parcels containing foreign cannabis were discovered.
The narcotics were escorted to CANU’s headquarters, where they were weighed and confirmed to total 15.758 kilograms.
The accused, identified as 36-year-old security officer Bradley Hibbert of Lot 759 Hendrix Street, Brooklyn, New York, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Bail was refused, and Hibbert has been remanded to prison until February 20, 2026, as investigations continue.
CANU has indicated that further inquiries are ongoing.
