‘Bonnie and Clyde’ couple arrested for using fake profile to defraud man of US$1200.

Police have taken into custody Shazeela Hitnarine and Mahesh Inshanally, after they used a fake Facebook profile to defraud a man of US$1200.
The couple has admitted to using the fake profile with the name “Princess Amrita” to defraud the man of the entirety.
The incident was widely publicized on social platforms after the New York-based resident contacted a well-known Facebook page to share his dilemma.
The man claimed that he shared many conversations with the owner of the profile including multiple video chats, he said that ‘Princess Amrita’ had asked him for the cash to show the airport immigration once she arrived in the United States.
He explained that he sent US$1200 in 3 parts for this purpose, however, once all the money was uplifted, he was blocked from the account and had no other contact with the individual.
After publishing the man’s request, the young woman whose photo was used on the fake profile sought help from her attorney to have her picture removed from social media posts immediately and for the page which published the photo to issue her an apology.
The matter is now under investigation.
