The bodies of 20-year-old Lyodisa Waldron, known as “Loyda,” and her fiancé, 31-year-old Andri Francis, called “Bobby,” have been recovered.
The pregnant woman and her fiance, both of Victoria Village ECD, who went missing after being swept away by strong currents at Unity Beach on Sunday have been found following an extensive search effort.
The couple disappeared on Sunday, May 31, while swimming at Unity Beach.
Reports indicate that Waldron drifted into deeper waters and called for help. Francis reportedly attempted to rescue her, but both were overcome by strong currents and vanished beneath the water.
Their disappearance triggered a large-scale search involving relatives, residents, and authorities.
The search continued for days before the bodies were eventually located.
Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed reportedly assisted the search efforts by privately providing two boats to aid in the operation, leading to the discovery of the bodies.
