The car Primus was driving at the time of the crash

Thirty Three-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Police Colin Primus has been injured in a crash on the Essequibo Coast on Thursday and is in a stable but serious condition.

The accident involved motorcar HB 9504 and PVV 9556 and took place at approximately 16:15 hours along the Johanna Cecilia Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Primus according to the police is the officer in charge of Richard Faikall Police Training Collage located on the Essequibo Coast.

A statement from the police noted that Tariq Baksh was the driver of the hire car and was traveling along with his wife. It was stated that both vehicles were traveling in the opposite direction at the time of the crash.

According to the statement, the officer related that he slowed down and flipped on his indicator to turn right and while executing the turn, the hire car collided with the left front side of the vehicle.

The impact caused the vehicle which the police officer was driving to spin clockwise before ending up on the parapet while the other vehicle ended up on the opposite parapet.

As a result of the collision, both drivers along with the female passenger who was in the hire car received injuries. They were all taken to the Suddie Hospital where they were treated and admitted.

Assistant Superintendent Primus suffered a fractured right foot and laceration to his head and up to press time was in a stable but serious condition.

The driver of the hire car according to the force in its statement, suffered trauma to the head and pains about his body while his wife’s condition is listed as serious with neck and back injuries.

The investigations according to the police are ongoing.
