Alleged social media evidence on Whistle’s execution gets police attention

EXECUTED IN JULY: Leon Duncan called ‘Whistle’
A voice note and video of recording of a series of WhatsApp messages from a female who claims to be fearful for her life and which seems to have incriminating evidence against two persons including a Member of Parliament of has surfaced.
The voice note and recording which ended up in the hands of a television journalist has since been shared with the police in a resource group which the police and media operatives share. The contents seeks to link the public official to the killing of Leon Duncan also known as ‘Whistle’.
Crime Chief, Senior Superintendent Michael Kingston on Friday confirmed that information which has been making the rounds have been engaging the attention of detectives of the Cyber Crime Unit, Brickdam Police Station and Major Crime Unit.
“That investigation is active and we have had a look at some of the comments and the other stage we are at now, we have brought in our cyber crime unit because as you know, both the young man and girl came in and statements are being taken. I don’t want to delve into the matter because it is a sensitive one and therefore we have asked the cyber crime unit to get actively involved and to aid the investigation” Kingston told the media.
Of the two persons who went into the police, none is the young lady who was actually the woman the alleged hit-man as communicating with. BIG Smith Crime Watch was told that it was him and another young lady who he has also been seeing lately, who have visited the police.
The woman who reportedly has all the information about the hit and other crimes of the alleged hit-man is said to be out of the country out of fear for her safety.
The contents reportedly details some aspects of an operation where a young man who is reportedly working with a security firm and is allowed to carry a firearm, was reportedly contacted by a named individual to carry out the hot on ‘Whistle’.
The contents as seen in the recording shows that the person who was reportedly contacted by the named individual was also sharing some aspects of the intended and on who the target was along with the date of the execution with the female.
The other person who was responding to the messages coming from the alleged hit-man is suspected to be the female who reportedly shared a relationship with the hit-man sometime back.
“The investigations are being headed by Brickdam and the major crimes. Because of the intricacies and the sharing of the information via the web and because of the technicalities of it i don’t want to say much because by saying much I can put the case in jeopardy” the Crime Chief noted
Based on what was seen in the messages, the person who was reportedly hired to carry out the hit messaged the female before going on the job and asked her to pray for him while admitting that it was not him alone who was going on the job.
Hours after the hit was reportedly carried out, the man messaged the woman telling her that the job was done and that she should check the news.
Based on the contents of the messages which have been making the rounds on social media, the messages seems to tie into the actual events leading up the hours before and after whistle was killed as well as the statement which was released to the press by the police on the shooting incident.
Whistle was killed on the night of July 21, 2019 as he and others came under heavy fire from a group of men who pulled up to where they were playing cards in North Ruimveldt and open fire. Whistle was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital while others within the group were injured.
Whistle was no stranger to law enforcement and had several brushes with the law which ranged from robbery under arms to murder.
It is on those bases that the woman reportedly came forward with the information by sharing it with someone who later leaked it to a member of the press.
