Air Transat to connect Guyana-Canada from December 16

May 8 2025-  Starting this December, travellers will have a new, convenient way to reach South America.

Air Transat, recently crowned the 2024 World’s Best Leisure Airline by Skytrax, has announced the launch of a direct, non-stop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Georgetown, Guyana.

The new route, set to begin operations on December 16, 2025, will offer twice-weekly flights on Tuesdays and Fridays through April 24, 2026.

The addition is part of Air Transat’s growing winter program and marks the airline’s latest effort to expand its footprint in South America.

According to Sebastian Ponce, the airline’s Chief Revenue Officer, the decision to add Georgetown to the destination list was both strategic and responsive. “With this new route, we are expanding our presence in South America while optimizing the use of our aircraft,” Ponce explained.

“This addition meets a strong demand from the Guyanese diaspora in Canada, while also tapping into a growing market and a leisure clientele curious to discover new destinations.”

The introduction of the route follows consultation with both Guyanese and Canadian authorities and is pending final regulatory approval. Flights will soon be available for booking.

Passengers on the new route will travel aboard the Airbus A321LR, one of the most efficient aircraft in its category.

Designed with comfort in mind, the A321LR features ergonomic seating, an advanced in-flight entertainment system, and a premium Club Class option for those seeking an elevated experience.

The full details of Air Transat’s 2025–2026 winter program are expected to be released in the coming weeks, offering travelers even more options for sun-soaked getaways or cultural exploration.

Based in Montreal, Air Transat has been connecting people and destinations for nearly four decades. The airline is known for its customer-first approach and operates a modern, energy-efficient fleet.

With major hubs in Montreal and Toronto, and a dedicated team of 5,000 employees, Air Transat continues to position itself as a favourite among leisure travellers across the globe.
